People who have battled cancer will be honored during a special lighting ceremony during the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Vancouver event. Luminaria will be lit at 10 p.m. Saturday at Columbia River High School, 800 N.W. 99th St.

If you want to make a luminaria donation, contact Stephanie Elmore at 503-795-3993 or visit vancouverrelay.org.

“It is a beautiful sight when all the bags with candles are illuminated around the track,” Elmore said. “The Luminaria Ceremony is a moving way to remember loved ones lost to cancer and to pay tribute to cancer survivors.”

The Relay for Life fund-raiser kicks off at 10:15 a.m. as survivors circle the track. It continues all day and overnight as teams camp out and keep at least one member on the track at all times.
