CLEVELAND (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have acquired utility infielder Omar Quintanilla from the New York Mets for cash considerations.
Quintanilla, 30, was designated for assignment earlier this week. He batted .257 in 29 games with the Mets this season. Quintanilla will be added to the 25-man roster Saturday and a corresponding roster move will be made.
Quintanilla, a .218 career hitter, has played with Colorado, Texas and the Mets in parts of seven seasons.
Right-hander Brad Bergesen, who was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Wednesday, has been claimed off waivers by Arizona. He has not pitched in the majors this season.
