I must thank Tim Bridges for his July 16 letter, “Trashed city shocks former resident.” It takes an outsider to keep us in check because a person can get so used to an eyesore that it just blends in. This problem has been going on so long that I myself was getting tired of writing in on all the weeds and trash. No one cares, not even those so-called volunteer groups who sponsor certain sections of road, they too can’t keep up the cleanup.
The east Padden Parkway is a jungle of weeds. I have run out of ideas as to why are city and county officials are turning a blind eye to this problem. Who are these people who make the decisions?
In the past, I would write to the paper saying let’s expose those who make these decisions. Get them off their duffs and come out and see the real world, and take off your rose-colored glasses. I find it so frustrating that the west end of the Padden is weed free and the east end is a jungle … why? If you are going to build roads and bridges, putting in beautiful landscaping and then let it go to weeds — it’s another reason these people who don’t seem to care must go.
