Oklahoma State wins Bassmaster college title

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Oklahoma State’s Zack Birge and Blake Flurry won the Bassmaster College National Championship, holding off Auburn brothers Jordan and Matt Lee on Friday.

The Oklahoma State duo caught a five-bass limit weighing 16 pounds, 5 ounces 5 Friday at Hurricane Lake for a three-day total of 37-13. Auburn had a tournament-best catch of 18-7 to finish at 35-1.

The event started Wednesday on the Arkansas River and moved to Lake Maumelle on Thursday.

The eight fisherman from the top four teams will compete individually Saturday and Sunday at Beaverfork Lake for a spot in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic. Murray State’s Justin Graben and Vincent Campisano, third at 32-4, and Alabama’s Dustin Connell and Logan Johnson, fourth at 31-14, complete the field.
