METAIRIE, La. (AP) — An intense greeting from suspended head coach Sean Payton awaits Saints players as they enter their indoor practice field.

Assistant head coach Joe Vitt says the massive mural of Payton’s pursed-lip, squinted-eye glare, which was hung before Friday’s second practice of training camp, resembles a look every assistant coach and player has gotten when their performances started to slide.

The mural also includes the phrase, “Do your job,” which has become the unofficial motto of the club ever since Payton delivered those parting words before starting his season-long suspension in connection with the NFL’s bounty investigation.

Vitt says Saints owner Tom Benson had the idea to hang the banner and that it serves as a reminder of Payton’s enduring influence on the franchise.
