Spencer Tibbits of Vancouver won the Washington Junior Golf Association state championship for boys ages 12-13, which concluded on Friday at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent.

Tibbits, 13, won by three strokes over John Sand of Hoquiam and Sean Yi of Federal Way.

The victory was built on an opening-round 69 on Wednesday, and rounds of 74 on Thursday and Friday to finish the 54 holes in 217 strokes. The Wednesday and Thursday rounds were played at Riverbend Golf Club in Kent.

Tibbits was the only player from Clark County in the tournament. Most area golfers participate only in Oregon Golf Association events, and skip the Washington events.
