Jets’ Schilens: Cromartie’s WR comments a ‘slight’

CORTLAND, N.Y. (AP) — Chaz Schilens was offended by cornerback Antonio Cromartie’s recent comments that he thinks he’s the New York Jets’ second-best wide receiver, calling it a “slight” to the players at his position.

Cromartie, who could play some at receiver this season, was asked on “ESPN First Take” on Tuesday where he thinks he’d rank on the depth chart. He said he’d be behind only Santonio Holmes — putting him ahead of every other receiver, including Schilens, who signed as a free agent in March.

Schilens says Wednesday they’ll “address it on the football field.” Meanwhile, coach Rex Ryan says “I’m on top of it, and it will not be a problem,” trying to defuse the first sign of tension in the locker room — something that derailed the team last season.
