Vancouver police on Wednesday identified the two drivers injured in a head-on crash Tuesday night.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Fourth Plain Boulevard at the Interstate 5 onramp.

Marlene J. Salvey, 56, of Vancouver, was driving a Buick Century westbound on Fourth Plain when she hit a Saturn Ion driven by Patricia C. Clooten, 63, of Centralia head-on, according to police. It is believed that alcohol and medication use were factors in the crash, police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in a release.

Both Salvey and Clooten were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

They were both listed in satisfactory condition Wednesday afternoon, hospital spokesman Ken Cole said. Clooten was released later Wednesday, according to hospital officials.

There were no passengers in the vehicles.

Ten Vancouver firefighters responded in two engines and a ladder truck. Vancouver police’s traffic unit also responded.

Police shut down all lanes of Fourth Plain to investigate.

The investigation is ongoing.
