DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies have reinstated catcher Wil Nieves from the 15-day disabled list and designated him for assignment.
The 34-year-old Nieves is in his first year with Colorado. He is batting .298 with one home run and five RBIs in 16 games for the Rockies.
He was placed on the disabled list with turf toe on July 13.
The nine-year major league veteran has hit .226 with six homers and 78 RBIs in 298 career games.
The Rockies have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
