The city of Vancouver is looking for a new tenant for the Slocum House, the historic building at the southwest corner of Esther Short Park.

For years, the building housed the Slocum House Theatre, but a potential increase in rent and financial troubles led the company to announce that it would close its doors in February.

The city has issued a Request for Proposals to solicit a new tenant for the building, which is listed on the national historic register. Copies of the Request for Proposal can be found at http://www.cityofvancouver.us/procurement. Proposals are due by June 27.

The two-story, approximately 6,100-square-foot building is adjacent to Vancouver City Hall, the Hilton Vancouver Washington and the weekend Vancouver Farmers Market.

The city hopes to attract a business to offer food and beverages, entertainment, retail, business or a mix of uses.
