SAN DIEGO (AP) — Olympians Meb Keflezighi and Ryan Hall will get a final tuneup for London when they run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon on Sunday.
The Eritrean-born Keflezighi, 37, who became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1998, is the defending half marathon champion. He and Hall finished 1-2 in the U.S. Olympic marathon trials. Keflezighi won the silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
The women’s half marathon should come down to a duel between Shalane Flanagan, who won the U.S. women’s Olympic trials, and Kim Smith, the New Zealand Olympian who ran the fastest women’s half marathon in the United States when she finished last year’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Philadelphia in 1:07:11.
The half marathon is run in conjunction with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon.
