TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Brandon Miller scored twice and drove in another run as Samford eliminated Mississippi State 3-2 in the NCAA Tallahassee regional on Sunday.

Miller doubled home Phillip Ervin to tie the game 2-2 in the seventh inning and then scored the winning run on a throwing error by Mississippi State third baseman Sam Frost. Miller also scored Samford’s first run on a fourth-inning single by Tommy Corbin.

Samford’s Joseph Burns (4-1) got the win and C.K. Irby his 10th save with a scoreless ninth.

Jonathan Holder (2-1) took the loss in relief for Mississippi State (40-24), which got runners to second and third with one out in the ninth, but couldn’t score.

Samford (41-22) must defeat the tournament’s top seed, Florida State, twice to advance to the NCAA’s 16-team Super Regionals. The host Seminoles (45-15) advanced into Sunday’s championship round with wins over UAB and Samford.
