SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Two women have filed a $3 million lawsuit against Marion County, claiming they were sexually assaulted by a deputy while in jail.

The lawsuit says the women were abused for more than a year by a guard at the work center where the women were assigned.

The Statesman Journal reports (http://is.gd/RNBRYu) the deputy was fired after his arrest in March. He’s due to appear in court on June 22 on 14 sex crime charges.

A spokesman for the Marion County sheriff’s office, Don Thomson, declined to comment on the civil lawsuit.
