COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Two-time U.S. champion Alissa Czisny is resting comfortably after successful hip surgery Wednesday.
U.S. Figure Skating and Czisny’s mother, Debbie, say Czisny had a torn labrum in her left hip.
The surgery was performed in Nashville by Dr. J.W. Thomas Byrd, who has served as a physician for the U.S. Olympic Team and is the Tennessee Titans’ team physician.
Czisny’s injury was discovered in May after an MRI revealed a labral tear, which affects the soft tissue between the hip joint and the leg. The 24-year-old Czisny is expected to be sidelined for up to four months.
Czisny won the U.S. title in 2009 and 2011.
