Clark County Running Club Wednesday Summer Series — 7 p.m. on June 13 is the Grass Valley Park 5K Run in Camas. Run from Grass Valley Park to Skyridge Middle School. Park at Lacamas Swim and Sport, 2950 NW 38th Ave., in Camas. Grass Valley Park is across the street. Restrooms in park. Run directors: Jill and Mike Gilbert, 360-687-5106. On Friday and Saturday there is a Sports and Fitness Show at the Hilton Vancouver open to the public, 2-7 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Greater St. Helens Girls Basketball Camp of Champions — June 24-28 at Prairie High School. Camp director is Clark College women’s basketball coach Al Aldridge, a longtime girls basketball coach at Prairie High School.

Morning session is for girls entering grades 3-6. It runs 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Afternoon session for girls entering grades 7-9. It runs 1-5 p.m.

LACROSSE

King’s Way Lacrosse — For boys who live in Clark County. Do not need to attend King’s Way Christian schools. LITTLE LEAGUE

Little League’s main season runs March-July, including All-Star play. Some leagues offer fall ball programs. Little League is an all-volunteer program. In Washington, it is organized into 11 districts, two of which serve The Columbian’s readership area. Registration for the main spring-summer season is held in January and February for most leagues, and for 2012 is listed below for some leagues. Boundary maps for the leagues in those districts are available on the district websites (listed below).

Here is some basic Little League information:

— Most leagues offer baseball and softball. For 2012, baseball is for players ages 5-18 are based on the player’s age on April 30, 2012. Softball for girls ages 5-18 are based on player’s age on Dec. 31, 2011.

— Practices begin in March and the Little League season runs through mid-June, followed by all-star competition.

— Little League is run by volunteers.

— Challenger Division. Battle Ground/Highlands, Columbia, and LaCamas are leagues that offer a Challenger Division for disabled players ages 20 and younger who live in southwest Washington.

July 11 — McKenzie Stadium run. tentative. If construction at McKenzie Stadium forces a different course, this run will move to the Heritage Trail by the boat ramp. This run follows the Evergreen High School cross country course. Restrooms available. Directions: From 1-205 take the Mill Plain exit. Go east on Mill Plain 1.4 miles to Southeast 136th Avenue and turn left (north). Stay on 136th (136th becomes 138th) for 1.5 miles to Mckenzie Stadium, 2001 NE 138th Ave.

July 18 and July 25 — Lacamas Lake Park 5K Run. This run will be on the unpaved trails around Round Lake, just east of Lacamas Lake. This is a very hilly course. Restrooms available in park. Directions: From Southeast 164th Avenue go east on Southeast First Street (First becomes Lake Rd. on the south side of Lacamas Lake). Travel approximately five miles to Everett Street, then turn north on Everett and drive past the parking lot for Lacamas Lake Park. Turn right on N.E. 35th ave., just before the Lakeside Country store and park in the over-flow gravel parking lot on the left- about 200 yards down the road. Run directors: Fred Larsen and the Mountain View High School cross country teams, 360-833-9759.

August 1 and Aug. 8 — Leverich Park 3-mile Run. This hilly run will use the paved Discovery Trail and the unpaved Ellen Davis Trail. Restrooms available. Directions: From 1-5 go east on 39th Street, then north on Leverich Park Way to the north parking lot just south of Northeast 45th Street. If the north parking lot is full, there are two other parking lots available south of the north parking lot. Run directors: Phil Phimister and the Prairie High School cross country teams, 360-694-8936.

Aug. 15 — Marine Park 3-mile Run followed by a picnic. This will be an out and back on the waterfront trail. Restrooms available. Directions: From Highway 14 take the Columbia House exit (Exit 1) to Columbia Shores Boulevard then go east on Columbia Way to the park areas just west of Marine Park Way. There are two parking areas. One is on Columbia Way and the other is on Marine Park Way. Overflow parking at Water Resource Center.

Saturday, Sept. 1, 9 a.m. — Salmon Creek Runs. Options include 7.6 miles or 4 miles. This run will be a counter-clockwise loop that uses the Salmon Creek Trail and the local neighborhood streets. The race will start near the softball fields and the restrooms at Salmon Creek Park. Restrooms available. Directions: From Highway 99 go west on Northeast 117th Street.
