Buy produce, support children’s cancer research

Now through July 26, local shoppers can turn their grocery lists into money-makers for cancer research programs.

Fred Meyer stores and Produce for Kids are partnering in the “Get Healthy, Give Hope” campaign, which will benefit Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel in Portland and Seattle Children’s Hospital, among a handful of other regional hospitals.

From now until the end of the campaign, the more produce shopppers add to their cart, the more money Fred Meyer and produce suppliers will donate to children’s hospitals’ cancer research programs.

Fred Meyer will also offer shoppers collectible Produce for Kids’ Ideal Meals — quick and easy healthy meal ideas — which are free and can be found in displays in the produce department. The chef-created and dietitian-approved cards offer ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert.

All Fred Meyer stores in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska are participating in the program.
