BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Sabres general manager Darcy Regier has made it no secret that he’s ready to play “Let’s Make a Deal” at the NHL draft this weekend.

Regier revealed on Monday that he’s already been “very active” in trade talks with several teams to gauge what deals might be available. Atop his wish list is adding a top-line forward to improve what had been a high-priced, underperforming team that failed to make the playoffs last season.

In exchange, Regier has said all but a few of his players are untouchable. The Sabres also have a stockpile of draft picks they could use as trade bait. Starting with the 12th overall selection, Buffalo currently holds four of the top 44 picks in the draft that opens Friday.
