ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — If guarding against distraction is one of Dave Wannstedt’s biggest concerns in assessing the potential of the Buffalo Bills new-look, Mario Williams-led defense, he’s certainly looking the part.
More out of necessity than design, the veteran coach and Bills first-year defensive coordinator can’t help but maintain a straight-ahead focus because of the thick brace he’s wearing to protect his neck. That’s the result of Wannstedt having surgery to repair a lingering injury sustained in a cycling accident last year.
Living dangerously, he says with a wink.
Should all go as planned, the same can be said about the attacking style approach Wannstedt intends to employ to take advantage of the experience-laden front line the Bills have assembled this offseason.
The Bills opened their three-day mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.
