MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that the Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to trade the 18th overall pick in the NBA draft to Houston for Chase Budinger.
The deal brings in a veteran perimeter player that coach Rick Adelman knows well from his days as a coach with the Rockets. The person told the AP about the move on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because it has not been officially announced. Yahoo Sports first reported the deal.
Budinger averaged 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds and shot better than 40 percent from 3-point range in his third year with the Rockets last season.
Houston now owns the 14th, 16th and 18th picks in the draft, plenty of ammunition to make a bigger move on Thursday.
