Laura Chapot wins at NY horse show

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Laura Chapot of Neshanic Station, N.J. has won the Beacon Hill Horse Transportation 1.45m Power and Speed Stake at the Lake Placid Horse Show.

Riding Quointreau Un Prince, Chapot was one of eight entries to qualify for the speed section of the course by completing the 10-jump power portion without penalty. The two-time Lake Placid Grand Prix champion then finished the seven-jump speed section fault-free in 30.206 seconds to win.

Finishing second was Johnathan Corrigan who finished the speed section with four faults in 31.878 seconds on Usandra.

The Lake Placid Horse Show continues through Sunday.
