CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins says the team has extended qualifying offers Friday to guard D.J. Augustin and forward Derrick Brown, making them restricted free agents.

The qualifying offers allow the Bobcats to match any contract offer the players receive from another team.

Augustin was selected by the Bobcats with the ninth overall pick in the 2008 NBA draft. He averaged 11.1 points and a career-high 6.4 assists in 29.3 minutes per game during the 2011-12 season.

Brown was selected by the Bobcats with the 40th pick in 2009. He averaged career bests of 8.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 22.2 minutes in 65 games played last season.

The team has not made a qualifying offer to forward D.J. White, which would potentially make him an unrestricted free agent.
