Silver Screamer wins Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Silver Screamer took the lead near the top of the stretch and drew off to win the $100,000 Eatontown Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday, beating Heavenly Landing by 1 1/2 lengths.

Trained by Rudy Rodriguez and ridden by Jose Espinoza, the 4-year-old filly ran 1 1/6 miles on the firm turf course in 1:40.41 and paid $11.40, $5.20 and $3.80. The win in the Grade III race was the sixth victory in 12 career starts for Silver Screamer, who has earned $230,495.

Earlier on the card, Successful Song won the $75,000 Lighthouse Stakes, beating Cascabella by 3 1/4 lengths. Ridden by Angel Serpa and trained by Eddie Plesa Jr., the 5-year-old mare ran 1 1/16 miles on the fast track in 1:46.22.
