KENT, Wash. (AP) — A procession of law enforcement and emergency services personnel is underway, prior to a memorial for slain Washington State Patrol Trooper Tony Radulescu (rad-ihl-EHS’-kyoo).

Thursday’s procession began at 7:30 at the Kitsap Mall in Silverdale. It will travel through Port Orchard and meet with other law enforcement personnel staging at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

They’ll join with the family procession from the funeral home in Lakewood and head to Kent for a memorial at the ShoWare Center.

Radulescu, a 16-year veteran, was shot Feb. 23 near Gorst by a driver who later took his own life. Six people have been charged with rendering criminal assistance.

Officials expect thousands to attend the memorial.
