KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Petra Martic of Croatia defeated second-seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia 6-7 (5), 7-5, 7-6 (5) to advance to the finals of the rain-soaked Malaysian Open on Sunday.

After battling with Jankovic for more than three hours, the fifth-seeded Martic will only have a few hours to rest before she meets Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-Wei in the final.

Martic came back from a 1-4 deficit in the third set and fought off a match point at 5-6 before finally beating Jankovic, the former world No. 1.

Both Martic and Hsieh will be playing in their first WTA final.

The tournament has been plagued by rain delays and injuries all week. Top-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland withdrew Friday with an elbow injury.
