McCollum leads Lehigh over American U

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — C.J. McCollum scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Lehigh over American 85-66 in the Patriot League semifinals Saturday.

McCollum was 10 of 16 from the field as the Mountain Hawks (25-7) shot 62.1 percent in the second half, outscoring American 51-38 in the final 20 minutes.

Second-seeded Lehigh used a 13-2 run to blow it open midway through the second half. McCollum scored six points during the spurt, including a layup with 11:18 left to put the Mountain Hawks up by 19, 55-36.

Mackey McKnight and Holden Greiner added 14 points each for Lehigh, which will play in the championship game on Wednesday.

Lehigh’s last Patriot League championship was in 2009-10, after it defeated American in the semifinals.

Troy Brewer and Charles Hinkle led sixth-seeded American with 15 points each. Tony Wroblicky added 14 points and Daniel Munoz 11 for the Eagles (20-11).
