NEW YORK (AP) — Velton Jones scored 25 points, including going 14 of 16 from the foul line, to lead Robert Morris over Wagner 71-64 on Sunday in the Northeast Conference tournament’s semifinal round.

The third-seeded Colonials (24-9) advanced to the NEC finals on Wednesday night, and will be trying for what would be a league-best eighth NEC tournament championship.

Russell Johnson added 12 points and Coron Williams 11 for the Colonials, who avenged a loss at Wagner on Feb. 2 in the only meeting of the regular season between the teams.

Robert Morris was down 31-29 at the half, but Jones started the second-half scoring with two free throws and Johnson chipped in a jumper to spark an 11-1 Colonials run to put them up for good. They outscored the Seahawks 42-33 in the second half to seal it.

Latif Rivers had 18 points to pace second-seeded Wagner (25-6).
