HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Sandro Carissimo scored 18 points, making the go-ahead basket in the second overtime to lift Vermont over Hartford 77-73 Sunday night in an America East semifinal.

The Catamounts (21-11) fell behind 73-71 on Yolanzo Moore’s layup with 1:43 to play. Matt Glass’s layup then tied it, starting a 6-0 run for Vermont.

The spurt continued as Moore turned it over and Vermont took the lead for good, 75-73, on Carissimo’s layup with 12 seconds to play.

The Hawks (9-21) then missed a 3-poitner and Luke Apfeld hit two free throws to seal it. Hartford had three of its 12 turnovers in the second overtime period.

Four McGlynn added 16 points, Glass 15 and Apfeld 13 for the second-seeded Catamounts. Vermont plays Stony Brook in the conference championship Monday.

The sixth-seeded Hawks were led by Andres Torres with 18 points. Genesis Maciel added 15 points and Mark Nwakamma 14 for Hartford.
