BEND, Ore. (AP) — TrapFree Oregon held a public meeting Monday night in Bend to kick off an initiative to ban trapping in the state.
KTVZ reports (http://is.gd/rGWCxb ) nearly 60 people attended the meeting at the Central Oregon Environmental Center.
Founder Wiley Syke says he’s against the use of body-grip traps.
The issue returned to the news after about several dogs were recently caught in traps across central Oregon.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife plans to review the trapping regulations in June and is seeking comment from the public.
