NEW YORK (AP) — Erick Hurtado, a 17-year-old Dominican pitcher signed by the St. Louis Cardinals last month and then let go, has been suspended for 50 games for a positive test under baseball’s minor league drug program.

Major League Baseball said Tuesday he tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol.

The suspension will start when he signs with a major league organization. After reaching an agreement last month, St. Louis terminated his contract.

Eighteen players have been suspended this year under the minor league drug program.
