BOSTON (AP) — The University of Massachusetts has narrowed the list of candidates for the position of chancellor at the school’s flagship Amherst campus.
The four finalists recommended by a search committee are: Sona Karentz Andrews, a geographer and Massachusetts native who is currently vice chancellor for academic strategies in the Oregon University system; Susan Phillips, a vocational psychologist who is provost and vice president at the University of Albany; Carlos Santiago, an economist and chief executive officer of the Hispanic College Fund in Washington; and Kumble Subbaswamy, a physicist who is provost of the University of Kentucky.
UMass President Robert Caret will interview each finalist before making a recommendation to the Board of Trustees, which has the final say on the next chancellor.
Current chancellor Robert Holub is stepping down at the end of this academic year.
