KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — A Kennewick 17-year-old who never got his wish to serve in the military will be buried in a uniform.

Alfredo Barajas died Thursday of a terminal heart condition.

The Tri-City Herald reports (http://is.gd/hmlixX ) local members of the military and law enforcement mobilized to help Alfredo with his wish to become a soldier. They gathered a camouflage military uniform, military hats, pins, police items and an American flag.

On Jan. 14 military service members visited Alredo and made him an honorary drill sergeant. He’ll be buried in the military outfit.
