Skyview’s Brooke Bowen has been voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week in a vote of fans on Facebook.

Bowen collected 46.2 percent of the 238 votes cast by 9 p.m. Thursday to beat out Union’s Jordan Chatman, who collected 23.9 percent of the vote.

Bowen averaged 13.3 points a game and her strong all-around play led her to be voted as the most valuable player of the 4A state tournament, leading the Storm to their first state championship in girls basketball.

Other candidates were Prairie girls basketball players Heather Corral and Jackie Lanz and Skyview girls basketball player Jocelyn Adams.

There will be no athlete-of-the-week voting next week because of the break between winter and spring seasons. Nominees will be posted by March 18 for the opening week of spring sports and voting will be held between March 19-22 at The Columbian’s prep sports Facebook page at www.facebook.com/360preps.com.
