Germany wins women’s relay gold at biathlon worlds

RUHPOLDING, Germany (AP) — Andrea Henkel anchored Germany to the gold medal in the relay to delight the home crowd at the biathlon world championships on Saturday.

Henkel shot cleanly to finish ahead of Marie Dorin Habert of France by 28.5 seconds. The German team of Tina Bachmann, Magdalena Neuner, Miriam Goessner and Henkel covered the 4×6 kilometers in 1 hour, 9 minutes, 33 seconds.

Norway took the bronze medal 39.5 seconds behind Germany, in positions reversed from the men’s relay a day earlier.

Neuner claimed her fifth medal of the championships in her final season.
