Hiker falls to death near North Bend, Wash.

NORTH BEND, Wash. (AP) — A King County sheriff’s spokeswoman says a hiker is dead after falling about 300 feet at Rattlesnake Lake near North Bend, Wash.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindi West tells KOMO-TV that another hiker called 911 late Friday afternoon and reported having seen a man fall. She says that hiker walked to the location on Rattlesnake Ledge where the man had fallen and reported he was dead.

Search crews who responded confirmed the hiker had died.

The man was not immediately identified. He apparently had been hiking alone.
