SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Former Gov. Ted Kulongoski is drawing three Oregon pension checks because he served in three branches of state government in a 25-year career.
The Public Employees Retirement System benefits database shows the checks total nearly $59,000 a year.
The Statesman Journal reports (http://is.gd/6T5JG1 ) Kulongoski is the only current public retiree receiving three separate benefit checks.
He receives about $3,500 a month for service as governor, attorney general and insurance commissioner. He receives about $830 a month for his service on the Oregon Supreme Court. And, he receives $560 a month for service in the Legislature.
He ranks about 11,000 out of more than 105,000 state retirees. The top beneficiary is retired University of Oregon football coach Mike Bellotti, who receives $496,000 a year in pension checks.
