McKenna raises more than $250,000 over weekend

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The campaign for Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna says he’s raised more than $250,000 in just three days, the first time he’s been able to raise money since the end of November.

McKenna had to stop collecting donations because state officials are prohibited from fundraising while the Legislature is in session. The Legislature was in special session from the end of November until mid-December, followed by its regular 60-day session in January, which ended last week. Because another special session began at noon Monday, McKenna only had a brief window to raise money.

That latest fundraising burst isn’t reflected on the latest monthly report filed Monday with the state Public Records Commission because it only reflects the month of February.
