UConn women earn a No. 1 seed for the 15th time

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut is a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament for the 15th time and will begin its quest for an eighth national title in Bridgeport against Prairie View.

The Huskies (29-4) are in the Kingston, R.I. regional and are a top seed for the sixth consecutive season. They have gone on to win a national title six times as a No. 1 seed.

The Lady Panthers (17-15) have won six straight and are coming off their second consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament title, despite being the tournament’s fifth seed. This will be their fourth NCAA tournament appearance.

The winner will play either Princeton or Kansas State in the second round.

The Huskies have made the tournament for 24 consecutive years, and are 63-8 as a No. 1 seed.
