Clark County — Julia Anderson, former Columbian business editor, said she will run for the District 1 position on the Clark Public Utilities Board of Commissioners.

Anderson, who is self-employed, said she would advocate for households on tight budgets and for employers who rely on affordable power.

“Low-cost power is our ace in the hole,” Anderson said.

Anderson has a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Idaho. She has served as a regional board member of Umpqua Bank, as a business news commentator on KXL 101.1 FM and as a freelance business journalist.

The Amboy-area resident is the fifth person to announce a candidacy for the post of incumbent Carol Curtis, who said she won’t run for another six-year term.
