EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — Prosecutors say a 54-year-old Bothell, Wash., man accused of fatally shooting his wife in their home told detectives the woman was terminally ill and had asked him to kill her.
Citing court documents, KOMO TV reports (http://is.gd/pVZ3nv ) that Donald McNeely said his wife had untreatable brain cancer and had asked him on several occasions to shoot her.
The couple’s daughter told detectives that several months ago she overheard her mother make that request but told her father not to do it.
Police say McNeely called 911 on Wednesday to report he’d shot his wife. Officers found the 52-year-old woman’s body and arrested the man. KOMO identified the woman as Linda McNeely.
