JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — Jose Reyes is going to play against his former team for the first time.

The Miami Marlins shortstop is in the lineup and expected to bat leadoff on Thursday against the New York Mets. Reyes spent parts of nine seasons with the Mets, winning the NL batting title last year at .337.

Reyes is a four-time All-Star and three-time stolen base champion. He did not travel to the Mets’ spring training home in Port St. Lucie, Fla., for either of Miami’s two games there in the past week, and was not with the Marlins’ split squad that played host to his former club on March 7.

Reyes signed a $106 million, six-year deal with the Marlins in the offseason after the Mets failed to present him with a serious offer.
