Undefeated Gemologist wins in return

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Undefeated Kentucky Derby prospect Gemologist returned from a 3 1/2-month layoff for a seventh-length victory Friday an $80,000 allowance race at Gulfstream Park

The 3-year-old son of Tiznow, idle since winning the Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill Downs in November, raced to his fourth straight victory, running a mile in 1:35 4-5.

Ridden by Javier Castellano and trained by Todd Pletcher for WinStar Farm, Gemologist returned $3.40, $2.20 and $2.10. Previously undefeated Currency Swap returned $2.40 and $2.10, and Angel’s Tune paid $2.20 to show.
