DALLAS, Ore. (AP) — State police blame hail on the roadway as a reason that an Oregon driver lost control on a state highway, crossing into oncoming traffic and slamming into another car west of Dallas.

The driver’s passenger, his wife, died at a local hospital after the crash at about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. They were not identified on Saturday afternoon.

The driver of the car they struck was also not identified. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash on state Highway 22 is still under investigation.
