HAVANA (AP) — U.S. college baseball players will face a squad from Cuba this summer, renewing such games between nations after 16 years.
U.S. Baseball Federation executive director Paul Seiler says “we could not be more excited or proud” to re-establish what was an annual series between 1987 and 1996.
The five games will be played July 5-9 in Havana’s Estadio Latino as a warmup for the Haarlem Baseball Week tournament in the Netherlands later that month.
Seiler and Cuban Baseball Federation Vice President Antonio Castro signed a letter of agreement Tuesday scheduling the games.
