PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) — An IOC delegation is visiting Pyeongchang to check on the South Korean city’s preparations for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The local organizing committee says it briefed the IOC coordination commission at a meeting Tuesday. The IOC panel, headed by Gunilla Lindberg of Sweden, will tour venues on Wednesday.

It is the IOC commission’s first visit to Pyeongchang since the city was awarded the games in July, beating rival bids from Munich and Annecy, France.
