ISTANBUL (AP) — Lisbon’s Stadium of Light has been chosen to host the 2014 Champions League final.

European soccer’s ruling body Tuesday selected the 65,000-seat home of the Portuguese team Benfica, a quarterfinalist in this season’s competition.

This season’s final is May 19 at Bayern Munich’s stadium. The 2013 final is at Wembley Stadium in London.

Lisbon last held Europe’s showpiece club match in 1967, when Celtic beat Inter Milan 2-1 at National Stadium. The Stadium of Light was rebuilt before the 2004 European Championship and staged the final, in which Portugal lost 1-0 to Greece.

Also Tuesday, UEFA chose the new Juventus Stadium in Turin to host the 2014 Europa League final and awarded the 2015 Under-21 European Championship to the Czech Republic.
