BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Spanish police have detained 10 people involved in an international doping network involving cycling and athletics.

Catalan regional police Mossos d’Esquadra, working alongside national police, say in a statement it “dismantled a criminal network” that had provided performance-enhancing drugs such as EPO to athletes that had tested positive at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2010 Spanish Vuelta, among other competitions.

The Mossos d’Esquadra says the ringleader is “Dr. Alberto BN” — reported to be former Liberty Seguros team doctor Alberto Beltran Nino.
