LACEY, Wash. (AP) — An overnight standoff at a Lacey house ended Thursday morning with a suspect taking his own life.

Thurston County sheriff’s Lt. Greg Elwin told KOMO Radio the man shot himself in the head. Negotiators had been urging him to surrender.

Deputies went to the house about 12:30 a.m. to arrest the man on drug-related charges. Others left the house, but the man remained inside with a gun.

Officers fired gas into the house and went inside about 6:30 a.m. and found the man’s body.
