DALLAS (AP) — The Mavericks have signed free agent Kelenna (ka-LYNN’-a) Azubuike (az-a-BOO’-key), who hasn’t played since tearing a knee tendon with Golden State two seasons ago.

The announcement Friday came a day after the Mavericks waived center Sean Williams to create a roster spot.

Azubuike spent four seasons with the Warriors and has career averages of 10.6 points and 4.0 rebounds.

The patella tendon injury happened nine games into the 2009-10 season. He was traded to New York in July 2010 but never played for the Knicks.

Azubuike skipped his senior season at Kentucky to go to the NBA but went undrafted in 2005. He played in the NBA Development League for a year before joining the Warriors.
