SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — Scooter Gennett hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to complete a cycle, leading a Milwaukee Brewers’ split squad over the Kansas City Royals 7-3 Sunday.

Gennett, who is in minor league camp and has never played above Class A, went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs. He tripled and doubled in the first two innings off Felipe Paulino. After striking out in the fourth, he singled in the sixth before his homer off Louis Coleman.

Taylor Green, who was the Brewers 2011 minor league player of the year, went 3-for-4 with a walk and was a home run shy of the cycle.

Paulino, trying to earn a spot in the Royals rotation, gave up five runs, six hits and three walks in 2 2-3 innings, throwing 78 pitches. Paulino’s ERA rose to 7.71 in four appearances.
