ASOTIN, Wash. (AP) — An Idaho man has been fined $1,440 and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service after setting off a stink bomb in the Asotin County Courthouse in Washington state.

The Lewiston Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/GLqAXv) that 45-year-old Charles A. Rogers also has to cover attorney fees. On Thursday he pleaded guilty to second-degree malicious mischief, a felony, following the Oct. 11 incident.

Rogers says he was frustrated that day because he had just left District Court where he was fighting an animal cruelty charge that authorities say involved leaving his dog in his car.

Authorities say the courthouse was evacuated after Rogers broke the novelty item and a sulfur smell filled the second floor.
